"We don't arrive on earth total virgins,we come with imprints that orient our lives : marks, our ancestors' deeds, our culture... That's the meaning of the canvas coated with materials and covered in symbols. I worked a lot on symbols and foreign cultures, because I want to try and bring them together as in a language. Nowadays I use symbols that seem to have no obvious meaning because I try to understand things with my heart and my guts, rather than with my head. My symbolism is no longer written out, it's just present. Whatever the culture, we all have a common language . |
